The best dog car seat covers help protect upholstery from muddy paws, fur and scratches while keeping seatbelt access in reach. Choose a bench cover for passengers and pets sharing the backseat, or a cargo liner when your dog rides in the rear of an SUV.

Extra-large coverage and side flaps add protection around the seat, while seatbelt access keeps the cover usable for family trips and child-seat installation. After a muddy outing, it can be wiped down or machine washed.

Choose this cover if your priorities are broad backseat coverage, washable cleanup and access to seatbelts for family use. The side flaps give it a useful coverage detail, while its universal-fit wording still leaves vehicle-specific fit to check.

Quilted Padding with Seatbelt Keepers
PetSafe Happy Ride Quilted Bench Seat Cover - Long-Lasting Waterproof Padded Backseat Protection with Secure Seatbelt Access - Keeps Leather Seats Clean & Protects from Scratches
PetSafe’s Happy Ride is a quilted bench cover for backseat trips with a dog. It combines waterproof padding with rugged cotton twill and a non-slip backing, helping shield seats from muddy paws, hair and scratches.
Adjustable headrest straps, seat anchors and elastic panels support installation, and seatbelt keepers leave access for passengers or harnesses. The cover is machine washable, which makes cleanup straightforward after a messy ride.
It fits most cars, trucks and SUVs, but checking your backseat layout and belt placement will help confirm that the bench design suits your vehicle.
Best For: Drivers who want a padded bench cover with seatbelt keepers and adjustable attachment points.
| Pros | Cons |

|
This is a fit for buyers who value padding and several installation points on a bench-style cover. Seatbelt keepers make it easier to retain belt access, while the cotton twill, waterproof layer and machine-washable construction address everyday cleanup.
Check your headrest and seat-anchor layout, then confirm the cover’s dimensions because the fit guidance is broad rather than vehicle-specific.
SUV Cargo Liner with Bumper Flap
Arf Pets SUV Dog Cargo Liner Cover for SUVs and Cars, Waterproof Material, Non Slip Backing, Extra Bumper Flap Protector, Large Size - Universal Fit
The Arf Pets liner covers a cargo area rather than a rear bench, so it suits dogs that ride behind the back seats. Its waterproof surface and non-slip backing protect the cargo floor, while the bumper flap adds coverage where a dog may step during loading.
Quick-release headrest straps and seat anchors provide the main attachment points, and an adjustable buckle strap can attach to front or rear seats. The liner is machine washable on a gentle cycle and should be air dried.
Measure your cargo area before buying; the listed dimensions are 55 x 82 inches.
Best For: SUV owners whose dogs ride in the cargo area and need bumper coverage.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
|
|
Pick this option when your dog rides in an SUV’s cargo area and you want a flap over the bumper edge. Its dimensions make fit-checking especially important, and the universal-fit wording does not replace measuring your vehicle.
The wash instructions also call for a gentle or delicate cycle and air drying, so account for that care routine.
Quilted Waterproof Bench Protection
Elegant Comfort Quilted Design%100 Waterproof Premium Quality Bench Car Seat Protector Cover (Entire Rear Seat) for Pets - Ties to Stop Slipping Off THE Bench, Beige
Elegant Comfort’s rear-bench protector pairs quilted microfiber with a waterproof backing to help shield the entire rear seat from pet messes. Its title highlights ties intended to help keep the cover on the bench.
The surface can be wiped down, and the cover is machine washable, useful for fur and dirt after everyday trips. The product is identified as a beige rear bench seat cover, but exact dimensions and attachment details beyond the ties are not provided.
Compare its shape with your bench and check that the tie arrangement works with your vehicle before purchase.
Best For: Buyers seeking a quilted, waterproof rear-bench cover that can be wiped or washed.

Consider this cover if you want a quilted bench protector with a waterproof backing and simple cleanup options. The title identifies ties as the anti-slip method, so check how they can be secured in your vehicle and whether the cover leaves belts accessible.
Since exact dimensions are not supplied, compare the cover’s shape with your rear bench before relying on the entire-seat coverage description.
Large Gray Cover with Wide Belt Slots
Lusso Gear Car Seat Cover & Protector for Dogs - Non-Slip Waterproof Seat Covers for Trucks & Cars - Universal Fit Dog Backseat Protector - Machine-Washable Pet Travel Accessories - Gray, Large
This large gray Lusso Gear cover protects a dog’s backseat area with a waterproof surface, non-slip backing and secure anchors. Wide seatbelt slots make it easier to retain access for a passenger or harness, and the machine-washable construction supports cleanup after muddy paws or shedding.
The title identifies it as large, but does not give measurements, so compare its shape and coverage with your vehicle before buying. It is a practical choice for drivers looking for straightforward bench protection and family-friendly belt access without a cargo-area liner.
Best For: Drivers who want a large-format, washable backseat cover with seatbelt access.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
|
|
Choose this model if you need a backseat cover with seatbelt access and prefer the large gray version. Its secure anchors and non-slip backing address movement, while machine washing helps with regular cleanup.
The key check is fit: “Large” gives no measurements here, so compare the cover with your rear bench and confirm that its belt-slot placement works for your passengers or harness.
How to Choose Dog Car Seat Covers
How We Picked Dog Car Seat Covers
We selected covers that protect a dog’s actual travel area and offer useful cleanup or access features. Bench covers suit dogs riding on the rear seat: the Lusso Gear options offer seatbelt access, PetSafe adds quilted padding and adjustable attachment points, and Elegant Comfort uses ties with a waterproof backing.
The Arf Pets product serves a different setup by lining an SUV cargo area and covering the bumper edge.
We kept the cargo liner because it is relevant to dogs traveling in the rear cargo space, but it is not a bench-seat substitute. We also favored products with clear care instructions or attachment details, while pointing out where dimensions or fit information still need checking.
Comparing Dog Car Seat Covers for Backseats and Cargo Areas
Start by deciding where your dog rides. A bench cover belongs on the passenger seating area; a cargo liner protects the rear floor and may add a bumper flap.
The Arf Pets liner gives a specific 55 x 82 inch size, making measurement practical. The bench-cover records generally use universal or broad fit language without giving exact dimensions, so compare their shape and attachment points with your car, truck or SUV.
For shared backseats, seatbelt access is a useful distinction. Both Lusso Gear options mention belt slots or access, and PetSafe uses seatbelt keepers.
Check where those openings fall relative to your passengers and harness. Elegant Comfort’s available details focus on ties and a waterproof backing, so belt access is an unknown to resolve before buying.

Choosing a Waterproof Dog Backseat Cover
Waterproof materials help guard upholstery from wet paws, but covers differ in how they stay put and how they clean. The first Lusso Gear cover combines non-slip backing with side flaps and machine washing.
Its large family-friendly surface may suit owners who want coverage around the bench. PetSafe adds padded cotton twill, straps, anchors and elastic panels, which gives buyers more installation details to compare.
Cleaning instructions matter after messy trips. Several covers can be machine washed, while the Arf Pets cargo liner specifies a gentle or delicate cycle and air drying.
Check the care routine and whether the cover can be wiped between washes. For a tie-fastened cover, make sure the ties can attach securely to your vehicle’s seat arrangement.
Fit, Belt Access and Seat Protection
Measure the area your dog uses, especially if the product is identified only as universal fit or large. Confirm whether headrests, seat anchors and bench contours line up with the cover’s straps, ties or anchors.
If children ride in the back, check seatbelt access and child-seat compatibility directly; a belt slot or keeper does not by itself establish fit for every seat arrangement.
Consider how much protection you need beyond the seat surface. Side flaps help cover bench edges, while a bumper flap guards the cargo loading edge.
These designs address different wear areas, so choose based on where paws land when your dog gets in, rides and exits.
Who Should Buy Which Dog Car Seat Cover?
Choose the Lusso Gear cover with side flaps if broad bench coverage, belt access and machine washing matter most. Pick PetSafe if you prefer padded cotton twill with adjustable straps, anchors and seatbelt keepers.
The large gray Lusso Gear version is another backseat option where its belt-slot layout and actual fit suit your vehicle.
Choose Elegant Comfort for a quilted microfiber cover with a waterproof backing and ties, after checking fit and belt access. For dogs riding behind the rear seats, consider the Arf Pets cargo liner if its dimensions fit your cargo area and you want bumper-flap coverage.
